Ibiza Closing Parties 2008

Haciendo cuentas, llevo casi 20 años que voy a antros de baile. Eso quiere decir que a) empece siendo menor de edad, o b) ya no estoy tan joven. Pues ambas...

Ya habia ido a Ibiza 3 veces, 2 de ellas con la familia. En ambas veces ocasiones con la familia vimos las atracciones turisticas de la isla que son muy buenas, pero otras islas del mediterraneo son equivalentes. Sin embargo, la experiencia del atardecer en Cafe del Mar/Cafe Mambo, es algo que solo se vive en Ibiza, y ademas pude disfrutarlo con mi familia, lo cual lo hizo mas inolvidable.

Y en la vez que fui solo vivi el "Closing Party", fiestas a finales de la temporada, en Septiembre, de Hed Kandi. En donde estuve desde la 1 am hasta las 10 am, 9 horas, en la fiesta.... siendo, sin lugar a dudas, de mi mejores experiencias de antro. Sin embargo, fue estando solo...

Pero este año, sintiendome a principio de año que el tiempo sigue pasando, convenci a Fernando de que fueramos por un fin de semana largo a varias closing parties (y él negoció intensamente con su esposa)...

El mejor set de antros de mi vida entera. (excepto algun Acapulcazo, maybe) El ambiente, la musica --si, si me gusta el punchis punchis-- , la variedad de los antros (Amnesia, Pacha, El Divino), de la gente entre cada antro, pero arriba de todo, la compañia.

Fernando es de mis amigos con el comparto mas el gusto por la musica electronica/dance (Rodolfo en un close second), asi que no pude haber tenido un mejor compañero.
No fue ningun problema quedarnos todas las noches hasta las 6, 7 y 7:30 de la mañana....

Los mejores momentos :

• Cuando toda la gente en el antro se emociona y empieza a brincar en el buildup, hasta al final TODOS levantar las manos..
• Los 'papelitos' que caen del techo...e igual todos levantan las manos : Aqui un video del DJ en Pacha
• La camaderia con los otros clientes, cuando te voltean a ver sin conocerte, y te dicien, "this is amazing mate !"
• El saxofon y percusiones en Hed Kandi. En palabras de Fernando : estos tipos son de otro mundo.
• "This is the End" en el cierre de Pacha, 7 am, musica de The Doors, y la despedida hasta el siguiente año
• La falta de actitud en la entrada y en general adentro. No falta el insoportable, pero no es la norma. La gente va ahi a bailar y pasarsela bien.
• El idioma : Español o Ingles
  

Eso si, ademas de los antros, disfrutamos de :

• Un buen hiking a Atlantis -una cantera junto al mar-,
• 2 veces el atardecer en el Cafe del Mar y Cafe Mambo. Sin importar como se lo expliqué a Fernando, hasta que el estuvo ahi, y escucho la musica poniendo el ambiente, culminando con el aplauso de la gente, comprendio (con un largo escalofrio) lo que es...
• Una visita a la parte antigua amurallada de la ciudad.
• Un dia en Platja de ses Salines, donde tambien tocaban musica electronica chill en un Chiringuito [un restaurante en palapa], Sa Trinxa, y al llegar un saxofonista, logrando que la gente se pusiera a bailar en la playa ! -- some women with no tops --
  

Y Natalia nos dijo que estabamos gruesos en hacer todo el viaje para "solo" 4 dias. Si al cerrar los ojos sigo escuchando la musica, viendo las luces, sientiendo el ambiente, y ya quiero regresar !

Asi que mis conclusiones :

• Cualquier cosa, cualquiera, es mejor hacerla con alguien cercano. Tu hijo, tu esposa, tu amigo... siempre es mejor acompañado
• Nunca es demasiado tarde para vivir un momento TOP : (ver olibuj)
• Hay que hacer en la vida las cosas que nos hacen felices, no lo que los anuncios nos dicen que nos DEBE hacer feliz.
• Realmente me gustan los antros de baile
• Es una verdadera pena que no pueda compartir con Martha las mega desveladas, pero es una maravilla que nos queramos y nos entendamos al punto que yo lo pueda hacer sin ella. Pense en ti todo el tiempo. Te amo mami

Thinking about it, it's been close to 20 years I've liked dance clubs. That means that either a) I started going when I was under age, or b) I am not that young anymore... well, it is both

I had been to Ibiza 3 times already, two of them with the family. In both of those occasions we saw the family oriented tourist atractions, which are quite nice, but other islands in the Mediterranean are equivalente in that respect. But, the experience of watching the sunset at Cafe del Mar/Cafe Mambo, is something you only see in Ibiza (and believe me, I've been trying to find it elsewhere), which enjoying it with my family made it even more unforgettable.

And the one time I went by myself, I lived the "Closing Party", which happen at the end of the season in September : Hed Kandi's . At that time I was there from 1 am to 10 am, 9 hours of partying..., and without a doubt one of my best club times ever. But, it was basically by myself...

But at the beginning of this year, as I felt that time was passing by, I convinced Fernando that we should go this year for a long weekend to a couple of those closing parties....

Without a doubt the best set of club nights of my whole life (except maybe for sometime in Acapulco). The vibe, the music --yes, I do like electronic dance music--, the variety of clubs(Amnesia, Pacha, El Divino), but above all, being in good company.

Fernando is, of my friends, the one I share my taste for electronic/dance music the best (Rodolfo being a very close second), so he was definitely the best partner I could have had.
As proof, it was no issue to stay late every night : 6 , 7 and 7:30 am

The club highlights:

• When everyone in the club gets pumped during a comedown and buildup, when at the very end everyone jumps and raises their hands.
• The "little papers" that fall from above, again, all hands risen. A video here of the DJ at Pacha
• The buddy feeling with the other patrons, they look at you without knowing you saying "this is amazing mate !"
• The sax and percussions at Hed Kandi. Words from Fernando : these guys are just another world.
• "This is the End" during the closing of Pacha, 7 am, from The Doors, and the goodbye until next year.
• The lack of attitude. There's always one a-hole, but it is not the norm, like in other countries. People go there to dance and have a good time.
• The languages, mine : Spanish or English
  

That said, we other things that were not night clubs :

• A good hike down (and up) to Atlantis, an ancient rock querry by the sea,
• Twice to watch the sunset at Cafe del Mar and Cafe Mambo. No matter how much I tried to explain the experience to Fernando, until he was there, and heard the music setting the mood, rising up to the moment when people clap at sunset, he understood my obsession (with goosebumps).
• We visited Dalt Vile, the walled old city.
• One day at Platja de ses Salines (beach), where we also managed to hear chilled electronic music at a Chiringuito [informa restaurant at the beach], Sa Trinxa, where with the arrival of a sax player, people started dancing at the beach !-- some women with no tops --
  

And thinking that Natalia told us we were a little bit crazy to make the long travel to go there for "just" 4 days. Even then, when I close my eyes I still hear the music, see the lights, feeling the vibe, I already want to go back !

So my final conclusions :

• Anything, really anything, is better to do it with someone close. Your children, your wife, your friend... it's always to live sharing
• Never it is too late to live a TOP moment : (see olibuj)
• You have to do in life what makes YOU happy, not what advertising tells you have to do to be happy.
• I really like dance clubs
• It is a complete shame I can't share the all nighters with Martha, but it is great that we understand each other to the point I can do this without her... I love you for that
