Llegadas en Barajas

Llegadas en Barajas, originally uploaded by ¡Carlitos.

Decidi ir a España a vistar a mis amigos Marco y Clara.

Weekend between the working days in France. I decided to go to Spain to visit my friends Clara and Marco. I had to travel on Friday night so that I could use the working day at the office and get a decent airfare. So I got to Madrid at midnight.

I arrived in the new terminal 4. Quite nice, lots of lights, high celings and open spaces. Very 1st world.

But that is not what impresses me, or better said, I remember where I really am, once I go out of the arrivals area. Very different of what I could expect if I had arrived in Vancouver at midnight. There are literally hundreds of people waiting for the travellers to arrive. Just like it would be in Mexico as well. Even though it is late, and you have to drive across the city with endless traffic jams. It is the intention what counts. That knowing that there is someone there waiting for you.

But in my case, there was no one yet. As always with these two friends, they were late.

But even then, when they got there, it felt the same...
