13 años despues. Despues de esperar por lo menos 8 de ellos a que estuviera disponible en DVD -o de menos en VHS-, ayer recibi mi copia de Solo con Tu Pareja, el primer largo metraje de Alfonso Cuarón . La primera vez la vi en el cine Pecime en compañia, de quien en ese momento comenzaba a ser mi novia, Martha.
Desde esa primera vez, la pelicula ha sido de mis favoritas, porque muchas de las bromas son muy particulares del chilango que vivio en Mexico en los 70s y 80s -como yo- . Frases celebres como "¡ Pinche Japones amarillo de mierda, cabron !... ¡ te quiero un chingo, güey !, me cae". Expresan de una manera total la cultura de bebida del DF de esos años (¿ seguirá siendo igual ?). Aunque algunas de esas palabras pueden ser insultos, en el contexto no lo son, de hecho denotan familiaridad y comodidad.
Anyway, finalmente la tengo. Y la puedo ver cuantas veces quiera.
13 years later. After waiting at least 8 of them for it to be available on DVD -or at least VHS-, yesterday I got in the mail my own copy of Solo con Tu Pareja [Literally : Only with your partner], the first full length film of Carlos Cuarón [ see : Y Tu Mama Tambien, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban]. The first time I saw it, it was in a small theatre in Mexico City, with someone who starting that day was my new girlfriend, Martha.
Even from that first time, the movie has been one of my favourites ever, among other things because a lot of the jokes are very particular to the Chilango who lived there [Mexico City] during the 70s and 80s -like me-. Phrases like "¡ Pinche Japones amarillo de mierda, cabron !... ¡ te quiero un chingo, güey !, me cae". They completely show the drinking culture of el DF during those years( is it still the same ?). Even though some of those words can be insulting (pinche, cabron, güey, chingo, mierda) under the right context they aren't, in fact they denote familiarity and closeness.
Anyway, I finally got it. And I can watch it now everytime I want
